Through chapter programming, NOMA PGH members have an opportunity to…

• Stay connected: NOMA Pittsburgh chapter meets monthly and communicates to the general body frequently, giving the chapter updates on opportunities, upcoming events, and maintaining open lines of communication with all. This gives members opportunities to shape the chapter on their current needs and wants from the organization.

• Develop leadership skills outside of their professional role: NOMA Pittsburgh allows members to develop their skills as leaders in their industries. This is important not only for personal growth, but for growth in their respective firms and careers. Members are exposed to public speaking opportunities that lift up and celebrate diversity in the field!

• Enhance their network: Networking is key for the movers and shakers of the community! Making connections is critical, and joining organizations give countless opportunities to connect on a local, national, and sometimes even global level. The NOMA community is a tight knit community where there is ample opportunity to connect with other minority architects in the Pittsburgh area and nationwide.

• Share design interest with youth: Our Project Pipeline Architectural Camps and Workshops allow members to teach and share their passion of architecture and design to local minority youth. Opportunities for mentorship are also available at the NOMAS student chapters within the local universities.

• Become a mentor or mentee: Giving back can be the greatest reward and benefit. Being involved in mentorship allows members to use their professional peers as sounding boards and potentially make impactful connections with those with the same interests.

• Stay inspired and stay motivated: Because of the diverse group within NOMA PGH, members can truly learn to love what they do by possibly seeing it approached differently by other members or tap into a new skill and pursue it further.
